The purpose of this site was to provide information on the Essay Contest for Our Children – an initiative to support children of African descent in their educational development. However, I was asked to share additional information about other projects I have been involved with over the years.
I want to live in a world where integrity and respect, of oneself and of others, are the highest values and believe that what I want starts with me. Consequently, I have chosen to live my life in a way that I believe honours me and brings me a level of fulfilment.
My projects have centred around my involvement mainly with children in the African Diaspora, from California to the Caribbean and Africa and currently in the UK. See Projects for more information.
I am very pleased with the success of the first Essay Contest for Our Children and will offer it in 2007 under the new name of the Essay Contest for Children of African Descent.
My constant search for knowledge and applying this knowledge gives me a rewarding and enriching life. Over 13 years ago I decided to live without television and instead chose to study, read, travel and support personal projects. Contrary to popular belief it is possible to function while eschewing television, government and consumer sponsored propaganda (newspapers, magazines, rampant consumerism of Christmas, Valentine’s Day and other man-made money-sapping conventions). I choose, instead, to listen to myself and find from within my core values which act as my guide.
In the “Ways to Help” section, I will include areas that I believe can have the greatest impact and which others might also find useful as they seek ways to get involved. This will be designed to inform and provide you with basic information to allow you, should you so choose, to contact the organizations directly.
We are all different people and as such, I am not encouraging others to do anything they would be uncomfortable with. I enjoy adventure and have always chosen to seek out challenges and take responsibility for the outcome. I accept this is not for everybody.
Feel free to contact me with any
questions or comments.
